Tent lighting is not new to Montreal, it just needs to be exposed to the public as a means of enhancing a tent event. Too many tent parties are put together with the basic lighting packages provided by the tent companies, and for the most part people aren't aware there are lighting options. . . . and though tent lighting isn't cheap, it's not so out of reach. Why settle for dull and boring . . . ? |
| Power |
Most outdoor events have 3 basic elements in common: Lighting, Sound and Catering. All of these elements require a substantial amount of electricity which should be supplied from a reliable source. So in order to keep your event worry free, you should consider managing your electrical requirements from a single electrical source. There are two possible ways to supply power to a tent. Both are fine given the correct application, however, the trick is to know how to choose between the two. The first method of getting power to your tent is by means of land service (i.e., a house or existing structure). You need to have an electrician draw a permit from the city and then have a sub electric panel placed near the tent. ( we can oversee this process ) This type of installation is recommended for small to medium sized events were you have a limited need for electricity. Most home electrical services are not designed to handle the power demands of a fully designed tent. So if your Event is very small in scale, this may be an affordable option for you to consider. Prices for this type of set-up run anywhere from $60.00 to $200.00 depending on the size of the power panel, and cost of permits in your town. The second method of supplying power to your tent is by means of a portable generator. Generator power is the most common and effective way of powering a tent or outdoor event. Generators these days come in a wide variety of power ranges and are extremely quiet even when located just a few feet from the tent. Another bonus to having a portable generator is it can be delivered to your event site and set up anywhere you choose. The cost of a generator in some cases is on par with having an electrician come and supply a separate panel to the tent location. However, by using a portable generator you can be assured of having as much power as needed and having it in the exact location as is required. Pricing for generators start at $200.00 on a per day rate and should be booked in advance to secure availability. Montreal Tent electrical power supply and power distribution. Supplying power to a tent is an art form in this industry and like anything else unless you have the experience because with the massive cable requirements it can become very unsightly. Our experience with tent power distribution spans almost 2 decades and encompasses a variety of tent event sizes. We have designed and powered tents ranging from 20ft by 20ft pop-ups, all the way up to multiple Clear Span tents of 400ft by 700ft. |
| Catering |
Catering is sometimes an overlooked component at some events. Often the catering team is left to draw it's power from the home or existing structure, and more often than not, caterers usually have insufficient lighting to do their job effectively. If left unattended this situation can cause all sorts of problems in the form of power spikes and tripped breakers . . . Would you want to risk the evening's dinner to a situation like this? The images on this page are from a catering tent which cooked food for over 800 workers, 3 meals per day for over a month. This tent require it's own generator and over 15,000 watts of lighting with 25- 15 amp circuits and and assortment of individual circuits of 220 and 480 volts. In some events of over 250 guests, the catering
tent is almost as large as the main tent. The coffee pots alone require several separate
circuits and if your caterer doesn't have a designated power source this can be a
recipe for disaster. |
| Climate Control |
Heating and Air conditioning is a necessity at some events. BigTop Lighting has the contacts and the resources to provide you with a solution for your climate control needs. It has been said that Montreal weather is unpredictable, this may be so but with proper planning we can acclimatize your tent to fit any temperature conditions. The rental of air conditioning (Chillers) or heating units are common to seasonal tent events and the effecs are outstanding. There are numorus companies in the Montreal area which can provide these units for your event. These details can be discussed at the time of the event planning. Portable climate control is a feature you should consider in the planning stages of the event. It is something that is not a requirement but for certian types of events and clientel, it is good to know that this sort of feature is readily avialable. |
| Deco |
